From Monday 31 October to Sunday 6 November, Eastern Road will be reduced to a single lane where it passes the new building at The Royal Sussex County Hospital. This is to allow a pedestrian crossing to be built, creating a safe way to cross the road near to the new main entrance of the hospital.
Traffic lights will be used to control the flow of vehicles during the works. These lights will be staffed so that ambulances and other emergency vehicles can be given priority.
The bus stop outside the Sussex Eye Hospital has been suspended and buses are stopping outside the Main Outpatients building, opposite the Barry Building, during the works.
Stage 1 of the 3Ts Redevelopment will be the new main entrance for the hospital and will open its doors in the spring of 2023. The Welcome Space inside is more than 20 times the size of the current main entrance.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused during this work.
