The founding Professor of Primary Medical Care, Helen Smith, was instrumental in embedding arts in the BSMS curriculum and culture and forged an excellent relationship with the local arts community that thrives to this day.
She will be hosting an afternoon to share the perspectives of BSMS alumni and the artists and educators we have worked with across the years on the role of arts-based practice in a medical school and beyond.
The talks and discussion will be accompanied by an exhibition of the art of BSMS medical students, alumni, artists and educators. The event is on Saturday 25 May from 2-5pm, Medical Teaching Building, University of Sussex and open to all.
