Mr Abd Wahab is a graduate of Trinity College, University of Dublin, Republic of Ireland. He completed Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) basic and surgical specialty training programs and continued training in multiple busy teaching hospitals in Republic of Ireland. He was previously appointed as RCSI Clinical Tutor and Lecturer in Trauma and Orthopaedics Surgery and completed his Master’s in Surgery (MCh) degree while delivering academic program for undergraduates and trainees. After achieving his FRCSI in trauma and orthopaedic surgery, he pursued fellowship training in complex orthopaedic trauma at King’s College Hospital, one of the busiest London major trauma centres. He also undertook shoulder and elbow surgery fellowship training at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Hospitals.
He has been a fellow with Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland since 2021. He continues to teach as faculty in deanery training days and FRCS revision courses. He is appointed clinical and educational supervisor to trainees and mentor for trainee’s FRCS examination preparation. He has several publications in peer reviewed journals on orthopaedic trauma topics, international podium, and poster presentations. He has also written trauma chapters for trauma and orthopaedic textbook. As part of UHSussex, his practice is based at Royal Sussex County Hospital Major Trauma Centre, Brighton. His expertise is focused on complex trauma and upper limb trauma, as well as general trauma and orthopaedic surgery. He is a member of the complex trauma and Orthoplastics multidisciplinary team, managing these challenging injuries with regular combined trauma operating list and Orthoplastic outpatient service. He holds current membership with the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA), British Trauma Society (BTS) and British Medical Association (BMA).
