All managers, leaders and supervisors should be given the skills to support employees with mental health issues.
Our Managing Mental Health and Wellbeing at Work course equips managers, team leaders and supervisors, with the skills they need to manage mental health and wellbeing at work.
We are delighted that the CPD Standards Office has accredited this course with 6.5 CPD hours. The course is delivered over one day via MSTeams and there is a small amount of pre-course work required (workbook included) to maximise the benefits of the course for all delegates.
What will I learn?
- To be aware of common mental health conditions (stress, anxiety and depression) and how to recognise early warning signs of poor mental wellbeing.
- Gain an awareness of the stigma that surrounds mental ill health.
- The importance of self care as a manager – delegates will have the opportunity to complete their own self care audit and develop their own wellbeing action plan.
- Have a broad understanding of the responsibilities and legal frameworks governing managing mental health and wellbeing at work.
- Be aware of the range of options to support an individual’s mental wellbeing.
- Feel confident in having conversations about mental health (skills practice).
- Where to go for further support and resources.
The course is split into two modules:
Module 1 – Mental Health and Wellbeing Awareness 9am – 12pm
Module 2 – A Manager’s Role in Wellbeing and Wellbeing Conversations 1pm – 4.30pm
Please find attached the workbook for the workshop.
Please have this available so that you can access it during the workshop.
There is a small amount of pre-workshop preparation as follows:
Pre-workshop Preparation (approx. 40 mins):
- Module 1 – Please take a few minutes to complete the pre-course reflection questions (approx. 10 mins).
- Module 2 – Please take some time to read the case study and make few notes about your initial responses to the questions posed. We will discuss these in the live session (approx. 20 mins).
- Module 2 – In addition, please choose one of the four characters (Mark, Leila, Richard, Angel) towards the end of the workbook to base your skills practice. You will play the role of the manager in the scenario, and a fellow delegate will play the character. No acting skills are necessary! (approx. 10 mins).
