Melanie Smith is an Illustrator and designer based in Brighton.
She specialises in hand drawn illustrated maps and trails for cultural organisations, books and editorial illustrations. In 2014 Melanie was awarded the ‘Enterprising Individual Award’ as part of the UAL Creative Enterprise in London and the Santander Brighton University Enterprise award and UAL SEED fund. And was also shortlisted for the Santander University 60 second pitch awards in January 2015.
She was also a Semi-Finalist in the Sussex Business Women Awards 2016.
Melanie Smith is one of 12 artists commissioned by University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, and Willis Newson, to create artworks that will be produced as large-scale feature wall prints and placed at key junctions to aid wayfinding around the redevelopment of Brighton’s Royal Sussex County Hospital.
