Dr Sabi Hippolyte graduated from the University of Cambridge (BA, 2003; MA (Cantab) 2007) and Guy’s, Kings and St Thomas’ Medical School (2006, Distinction, Silver Medal). She completed her specialist registrar training in the South London rotation working as a Senior Clinical Fellow at the Royal Brompton Hospital whilst obtaining her MD thesis, at Imperial College and the National Heart and Lung Institute (2020).
She has been a consultant in respiratory medicine at Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, since 2018. She is interested in postgraduate medical education, is a Fellow of the Higher education academy and was on the Specialist Trainee Advisory Group and Thoracic ultrasound Training Standards Committee for the British Thoracic Society (BTS). She is particularly interested in medical assessment and is on the Respiratory Specialty Certificate Examination (SCE) Board and Standards Setting Group with the Royal College of Physicians. She is supported return to training (SRTT) Champion for UHS-East.
She is actively involved in clinical research and improving standards of care. She was on the home oxygen guidelines committee for the BTS. She previously served on the Workforce and Service Delivery Committee for the BTS and is now on the standards of care committee with the BTS. She is local lead for Non-Invasive Ventilation and Co-Clinical Lead for Long Covid within the ICB. Her other areas of specialist interest include COPD, Respiratory Failure, Breathlessness and the influence of sex hormones on the lung microbiome.
